How A Teeth Whitening Dentist Can Give You A Bright White Smile

Ever looked for a teeth whitening dentist who can make your teeth look whiter and brighter in virtually no time at all? A bright and healthy set of teeth not only gives you a great smile, it also speaks to one’s health.

However, coffee, tea, and certain medications, and even genetics can rob you of shiny teeth and your bright white smile. If this describes you, you will be happy to know there is now a way to get back that bright white smile you once had.

Dr. White looks at cosmetic dentistry as an art form that can make anyone feel more positive about themselves. He takes the time to tailor treatment to meet your personal needs and makes sure it can deliver that natural-looking smile you always wanted.

What Is the Teeth Whitening System?

If you are not sure what to expect, here is a step by step guide to our teeth whitening process.

On your initial visit, a doctor will take an impression of your mouth. It will then be used to create your custom teeth bleaching tray. This tray will hold your teeth whitening prescription, which will be a carbamide peroxide whitening gel. Ideally, this gel should be applied on your teeth surface without getting on your gums.

Once your prescription is prepared, Dr. White will help you follow the teeth whitening procedure. Each night you will be required to brush and floss your teeth as usual before placing a dose of whitening gel in the tray. You will then place the tray into your mouth and wear this to bed. While you might see results after one night, most people start seeing significant results after about seven days.

Who Can Get Their Teeth Whitened?

Teeth whitening can be done on almost anybody that wants a brighter whiter smile, assuming they have all of their permanent teeth. If you are 21 years or younger it is not recommended as the pulp of your teeth are still very close to the surface. The bleach we use has been proven to be 100% effective and safe. It has been used in dentistry since the 1950’s with little or no complications. It should be noted that some people experience tooth sensitivity, especially with cold liquids when using the bleach. In such cases, we alternate treatment with a product called MI Paste applied between bleaching sessions. This helps control the discomfort. Once you have completed the treatment your teeth will return to normal.

The treatment offers impressive results within short timelines. That means, if you have a special occasion coming up like a wedding or graduation, you can get good results in as little as 7 days.

Veneers are designed to fit the shape and color of your teeth. If you have your teeth whitened before getting veneers, you can achieve an even more dramatic finish.

How To Keep Your Teeth White

While teeth whitening does not deliver permanent results, proper aftercare can ensure you keep your teeth whiter and brighter for years to come.

Some of the things you can do keep your teeth whiter are:

  • Quit tobacco use (smoking or chewing)
  • Enjoy your coffee and tea at a time when you can brush your teeth right after
  • Avoid brushing your teeth immediately after a glass of wine. Instead, follow it up with seltzer, broccoli or cauliflower. These gently scrub your teeth.
